SA Operatunity is becoming one of South Africa’s recognized opera music platform, a non-profit organization that currently has over 20 trained and professional opera singers and 3 full-time stage personnel from the University of Cape, University of KwaZulu Natal and University of Pretoria. Most of its artists are working in collaboration productions with the Cape Town Opera,

ArtsCape Theatre, UCT Opera School (South African College of Music) and Baxter Theatre. The organization is currently managed and administered by 4 professionals of whom are all opera trained performers and alumni.

SA Operatunity mission is to create teaching and development opportunities to young and undiscovered classical talents in South Africa. SA Operatunity creates and stage dynamic productions as an alternative to traditional opera performance, showing both its commitment to the holistic education of its students, artists as well as its dedication to drawing new audiences to opera as a whole. The essential difference of this organization from other music organization is an absolutely new format: it opens opportunities to young and potential artists that would like to pursue other careers in the opera environment. The organization also will be a gate way to enhance teaching skills of those at tertiary level, through community master classes, for choirs and schools. This organization also opens great educational platform and practice opportunities to the communities at large.

SA Operatunity’s goals are creation of ongoing community projects and

introducing the music style and performance in South African communities, telling South African stories, while also focusing on promotion of up-and-coming classical performers and attraction of interest of national community to the event and its participants.

The founder, Mr Xolane Marman, has been involved in internationally recognized opera/vocal competitions and still undertaking his postgraduate degree at the University of Cape Town, he has made a name for himself in many opera/theatre productions, as a young director and cast member. He has worked with the great names in the fields, like Professor Angelo Gobatto, Mr George Stevens (R.I.P), Mr Patrick Tikolo and Professor Kamal Khan to name few.
